Three people died in the collision of two boats in Yamaguchi

Tokyo, November 17 (IANS). There was a massive collision between two boats near the Kudamatsu coast of Yamaguchi province of Japan. Three people traveling on a boat died in this accident.

The accident occurred around 5:45 am local time on Sunday. Four persons aboard the pleasure boat fell into the sea. Three people were found during search and rescue operations, who were later declared dead.

A 28-year-old male passenger on board the boat suffered minor injuries and was rescued by a tugboat, Xinhua news agency reported. The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the collision.

Let us tell you that recently a minesweeper ship of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (MSDF) sank after a fire off the coast of south-western Fukuoka province. The local coast guard office said the fire was extinguished after the MSDF minesweeper Ukushima capsized. This helped the Coast Guard to start the search operation.

The Ukushima ship, which was carrying about 40 crew members, reported a fire in the engine room at around 9:40 a.m. local time last Sunday. It happened when the ship was about 2.5 kilometers off Oshima Island in Fukuoka Prefecture.

The crew of Ukushima was transferred to another MSDF minesweeper, Toyoshim, at about 3:45 pm the same day. However, one member of the engine room crew was not found. The missing man was later identified as Petty Officer Third Class Tatsunori Koga, 33.

A 20-year-old crew member was injured and was taken to hospital for treatment. At the time of the fire, both were on duty in the engine room, where the fire is believed to have originated.
