Kolkata, 26 November (IANS). Humayun Kabir, TMC MLA from Bharatpur in Murshidabad district, who is angry with his party on many issues, has expressed his displeasure at the party high command while talking to IANS. He said that despite being an MLA, he is not getting the respect he deserves.
Speaking to IANS, he said, “The meeting called by Mamata Banerjee yesterday was similar to the one that was held two years ago in 2022. This is absolutely correct, but I have no right to speak on this. The decision taken by the leadership will be right. Abhishek Banerjee is No. 2 in the Trinamool Congress, and Abhishek Banerjee is also in Mamata Banerjee’s four-member general secretary panel. As far as the district leadership is concerned, those who are officially leading neither call me nor listen to me. When there is a party meeting, like during Durga Puja, no MLA calls me. All this is going on as per my wish, and that is why I am facing opposition. I am not given a chance to speak.”
He said, “My MPs are also going to my area without informing me, even though I had worked very hard for them. On the orders of Mamata Banerjee, MPs go to my area, but I am not taken along. What system is this? That’s why I raise this issue. I don’t care what they say, but nothing about Fayyad Hakim and Kollan Banerjee will do in Murshidabad. Only Humayun Kabir’s words will suffice there. We will have to agitate against those who are working against the property and land of the Muslim community in Murshidabad. Both Trinamool Congress and the general public are fighting a battle in this matter. We have to stand against those who talk wrong. If necessary, the fight will be fought in the court and there will be protests on the streets as well. I support my party’s stand against the Waqf Board Bill.”
