Tomorrow will be dry day in 7 areas of Rajasthan, there will be a ban on sale of liquor.

Jaipur : 23rd November will be “Drought Day” in Rajasthan for a special reason. In these seven assembly constituencies – Jhunjhunu, Ramgarh (Alwar), Dausa, Deoli-Uniara (Tonk), Khinvsar (Nagaur), Salumber (Udaipur), and Chaurasi (Dungarpur) – the sale of liquor will remain completely closed.

Actually, assembly by-elections were held in these areas on 13 November, and now the results are going to come on 23 November. To maintain law and order, liquor has been banned in these areas on the day of counting. Besides, Drought Day has also been declared in municipal/city council areas within three kilometer radius of these areas and district headquarters like Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Dausa, Tonk, Nagaur, Udaipur and Dungarpur.

Why is this done?

This step is taken to avoid any untoward incident and maintain peace during the counting of votes. Stopping the sale of liquor during this period helps prevent any possible riots.
