Tonk News Desk: The tenure of the board formed five years ago in Tonk Municipal Council ended on Tuesday. Now all kinds of powers here have come to the district administration. Here the government has appointed Tonk ADM Ram Ratan Soukaria as administrator. Now, there will be no interference from any board member or board chairman in whatever pending work is done. Now, till the new board is formed, these same administrators will take all the decisions in the bodies and send proposals to the government. Work will be done accordingly. However, now there will be more emphasis on completing the pending works till the new board is formed.
In fact, the tenure of 49 urban bodies (Municipality, Municipal Council, Municipal Corporation) of Rajasthan has completed today. Tonk Municipal Council is also included in this. In view of this, the government appointed an administrator here on Monday. On 26 November 2019, Ali Ahmed of Congress became the Chairman of Tonk Municipal Council. However, now till the new elections, the administrators will focus on the administrative work etc. in the Municipal Council and can get the work done by sending many other proposals including development to the government. On the other hand, the Election Department has also started preparations for the new board.
On the other hand, following the guidelines of the Election Department, the leaders who want to contest the councilor election are also seen busy in preparations. However, the reservation of Chairman and Ward has not been decided yet. Reservation lottery for the Chairman can be held soon. Also, reservation of wards can be done after that. But nothing is clear about this yet.
Status of last Municipal Council election
In the Municipal Council Elections 2019, elections were held for the first time for 60 wards in the Municipal Council. There were 45 wards in the city. After the new delimitation, 60 wards were formed in the city council area. On which elections are to be held this time also. In the last elections 2019, nomination filing started from November 1. Voting took place on 16 November. Counting of votes took place on 19 November. The election of the Chairman was held on 26 November and that of the Deputy Chairman on 27 November.
