Under the joint aegis of Tonk : Extra N organization and Community Theater Tonk, artists of Community Theater Tonk will present a play in Guwahati (Assam). The story Kabuliwala written by Rabindranath Tagore has been staged in Hindi and Dhundhaari language. Mohit Vaishnav of Community Theater said that Community Theater Tonk has given more than 7 presentations in national and international drama festivals. From the year 2017 till now, the journey of efforts of Community Theater Tonk has always continued. Due to this, Community Theater Tonk Group has participated in famous festivals of the country like Jayarangam Jaipur, Backstage Theater Festival Prayagraj, Blue Theater Festival Bikaner, Anuranjan Theater Festival Thakur Nagar Kolkata, National Drama Festival Kharagpur Kolkata, Chaturanga Theater Carnival Kolkata, International Art Festival Kafila Noida etc. He has brought glory to Tonk city and district by giving his presentations.
Vaishnav informed that the play “The Death of Galileo” of the district’s theater group Community Theater Tonk has been selected for the biggest theater festival of Asia continent, Bharat Rang Mahotsav (Bharangam) in February 2024. Which was the only presentation from Rajasthan. Vaishnav told that in this theatrical presentation produced by Rajkumar Rajak, excerpts from Rabindranath’s other works like the play Visarjan and the novel Rajshri have also been added. Rabindranath Tagore’s story Kabuliwala makes fun of the geographical boundaries between countries and embodies the concept of universal love. Through the father-daughter affection, Rabindranath becomes very relevant in the current social, cultural environment of the country, especially when a country is trying to become a nation.
This play Kabuliwala exposes before us the picture of love between a father and daughter and tells how communal forces are engaged in the struggle to fulfill their intentions by breaking the plurality. In this series, Purba Ranga will perform at the National Drama Festival in Guwahati, Assam. In which there will be a solo performance by Tonk’s Aman Taseera, music by Chittaranjan Nama and Garvit Gidwani and Mohit Vaishnav, Ashish Dhap, Shubham Meghvanshi in supporting roles.
