Sawai Madhopur : Sawai Madhopur This fort is also known as Chauth Ka Barwada Fort. This fort is situated at a distance of about 25 kilometers from Sawai Madhopur, which belongs to the family of Raja Mansingh of Barwada royal family. Prithviraj Singh, a member of the present royal family, has beautifully preserved this fort as a legacy of his ancestors. He has renovated a part of this far-flung fort and leased it to the international hotel group Six Senses. Due to this, it is known as Six Senses Barwada Fort.
This fort is about 700 years old and was built by the Chauhan kings in the 14th century. It has also been a part of Ranthambore Rajya dynasty and Bundi Rajya dynasty. Later this fort went to Raja Mansingh of the Rajawat Rajya dynasty. The grandeur of this fort can be gauged from the fact that this fort, spread over 5.5 acres, is surrounded by a 5 feet thick rock wall, which is up to 20 feet high in some parts. You can enjoy the lake and amazing views from the windows of this fort built in Rajputana style. Historically Fort Barwada was used to store soldiers, weapons and ammunition during times of war. The main building of this fort is the Chauth Bhavani temple, which is built at a height of 1100 feet on the mountain. This temple was built by Maharaja Bhim Singh Chauhan in the year 1451. The village is named Chauth after this temple. And after the name of this temple, its village is also called Chauth Ka Barwada.
A large crowd of devotees also gather in the city to see the ancient Chauth Mata temple. Chauth Mata Temple is counted among the most special and ancient temples of Sawai Madhopur. This temple was established in 1451 by the ruler Bhim Singh. To reach this temple situated on a thousand feet high hill, one has to climb 700 stairs. Chauth Mata fair is organized here annually on the occasion of Karva Chauth. It is believed that the married life of the devotees who worship Chauth Mata with full heart and devotion is always full of happiness.
