Washington, December 3 (IANS). US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Warren Stephens, a 67-year-old investment banker from Arkansas state, as the next US Ambassador to Britain.
According to Xinhua news agency, Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social, “I am pleased to announce that Warren A. Stephens has been nominated to be the United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James, In this capacity he will act as our representative in the United Kingdom.”
Stephens, the CEO of Arkansas-based private investment bank Stephens Inc. and a Republican, has contributed millions of dollars to Trump’s presidential campaigns in the 2020 and 2024 elections.
However, Stephens did not always support Trump. When Trump first ran for president in 2016, he was a financial supporter of one such political movement. Who did not want Trump’s victory.
During the 2024 Republican presidential primaries, Stephens was a major donor to presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.
Upon his nomination, Stephens said in a statement that he was honored by it.
“I told President Trump that I would be extremely proud to serve our country and his administration, implementing the President’s agenda and further strengthening the long-standing alliance between the United States and the United Kingdom,” she said.
