Two accused sentenced to 7 years rigorous imprisonment in Churu smuggling case

Churu : Additional District and Sessions Judge II Sadulpur has punished two accused with seven years of rigorous imprisonment each in a ten-year-old illegal doda poppy peel smuggling case. According to the case, on June 23, 2014, the then police station officer Guru Bhupendra Singh along with the police team did escort duty to minister Nandlal Meena while going from Bhadra to Churu to Dudhwa Khara and while returning, a car with Haryana number passed in front of him from Sadulpur, 5 kilometers away from Sidhmukh. Was moving ahead.

Seeing the police car, the car driver drove the car towards Sidhmukh at high speed in which two persons were traveling. On this, the police chased for about a kilometer and overtook the car near the power house and stopped it. When the driver was asked the reason for moving the car, he got nervous and could not give a satisfactory answer. During interrogation, the driver revealed his name as Khaami Lal, son of Bahadur Singh Bazigar, while the other revealed his name to be Dharampal, son of Jagir Singh Bazigar, resident of Rania Chungi, Sirsa, Haryana.

On suspicion, the police searched the car and found a white colored plastic bag on the back seat, which when opened and checked, was found to be filled with a total of 28 kg of poppy husk. The accused did not have any license or permit. Police seized the illegal Doda post peel and the car and arrested both the accused and registered a case under NDPS Act and started investigation.
