Sydney, December 8 (IANS). Australian police have charged two teenagers in Melbourne with armed robbery, weapons offenses and driving offences.
Victoria state police said in a statement on Sunday morning that it is alleged that a young man carrying a knife was attacked by two criminals at about 2:15 pm local time on Saturday in ‘Skye’, a suburb and semi-rural area of Melbourne, Xinhua news agency. Had reached near.
The two alleged criminals, aged 16 and 15, threatened the 16-year-old and demanded his shoes and phone, after which the victim handed over the items to them. At about 2:30 pm local time, the same two criminals allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened a woman in Parkland, another suburb of Melbourne. Police officers spotted the Toyota car at around 5:30 pm local time and kept their distance until the Toyota was chased onto Frankston-Dandenong Road, where it collided with two other vehicles.
No one was injured in the road accident. The two men abandoned the Toyota and reportedly fled on foot to a nearby field. Police gave chase on foot before arresting both of them. Balaclavas and gloves were reportedly found with him.
Officers also searched the Toyota and seized a knife and parts of an imitation gun.
