Udaipur : Under the 4G Saturation Project funded by the Universal Service Obligation Fund on behalf of Udaipur Telecom, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited planned to connect remote villages deprived of mobile network through indigenously manufactured equipment. Months have passed since towers were installed in Kherwada sub-division area under the scheme, but till now the villagers are upset due to non-start of BSNL 4G network. BSNL plans to launch 4G service in Katar, Garaja, Bhankhara, Barothi Bhelan, Jhanjhari, Ranawada in Kherwada and Kaliabwasi, Bichhiwada, Ghodiyawada and Sedwada in Rishabhdev. But despite several months of towers being installed in the said villages, the network has not been started. This work is being done by Tata Consultancy Services (Tata), Tejas Networks and C-DOT. In which C-DOT is providing the network core, Tejas Network is providing the radio gear and TCS is working as the system integrator. There is anger among the area residents as BSNL has not yet started even a single tower installed under the said project in Kherwara area. BSNL SIM was purchased as soon as towers started being installed in the areas. But now the facility is not available due to non-operation of the tower.
Till now only towers at two places have been upgraded to 4G: BSNL’s 2G and 3G mobile towers are also to be upgraded to 4G under Phase 9.2. But in Kherwara till now only Demat and Karchha Kala have been upgraded to 4G. Whereas many towers including Kherwada, Bawalwada, Rishabhdev, Barothi Brahman have not been upgraded to 4G yet. Due to which consumers are deprived of high speed internet services.
Towers will also be installed in these villages: Survey has been done for setting up about 300 towers in the upcoming phase under the project in BSNL Telecom District. Survey has been done for installation of towers in Sulai, Hinka, Saroli, Palsia, Khanmeen and Rishabhdev in Kherwada, Pandayawada, Amarpura, Lower Mandwa, Upla Mandwa and Doodh Talai valley. Tower was installed in the village, but the tower has not been started. Can’t get in touch with anyone. Villagers are lagging behind due to lack of online services and quick information. ,
