Objective… To promote flexibility and multi-disciplinary learning
UGC has prepared a new draft of Guidelines for Minimum Standard Instructions 2024 for degrees in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The objective is to promote greater flexibility, multi-disciplinary learning and create an academic framework in line with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. Feedback from academics has also been sought on this new draft. Academics will be able to respond on the Google Form till December 23. UGC says that these rules will be applicable in all central, state and provincial law institutions.
{Students who need additional time to complete their degree will be able to extend the period.
{Despite the extended time, students will have to complete the same courses and credits.
{With the removal of subject restrictions, students will be able to study as per their interest. Multiple entries and exits will not waste students’ time.
{Each student will be able to decide the duration of education according to his need. He will be able to leave his studies midway and resume them later.
{According to the new rule, there is a provision to do two degrees simultaneously. You will get freedom to choose the subject.
{There will be no compulsion for subjects studied in class 12th or graduation. For example, students studying 12th in commerce will also be able to do graduation or PG in engineering, but for this they will have to pass national or university level entrance examination.
{Institutions will now have the right to decide the standards of minimum attendance.
