Udaipur: Pre-primary children studying in English schools will now also get nutrition, guidelines issued

Udaipur : Udaipur Mahatma Gandhi Department has issued guidelines regarding kindergartens in English schools. All schools have been instructed to send mid-day meals only after adding the maximum number of 75 students studying in kindergartens for children enrolled from class 1 to 8. That means the allocation of nutrition will be done by adding the number of kindergartens. Akshay Patra Foundation, a supply firm in Girva block, has also been instructed to provide nutritious food to the children of the kindergarten.

DEO-Initial Nanihal Singh said that guidance has been received from the Directorate and instructions have been issued to all Mahatma Gandhi English Schools that wherever there are kindergartens, the number of children from classes 1 to 8 should be increased by adding 75. So that the allocation of nutrition can be made only by adding the number of children of kindergartens in the allocation regarding mid-day meal. Instructions have also been given to Akshaya Patra Sansthan. Now kindergarten children will not be deprived of nutritional food in any school. In Mahatma Gandhi English School, the maximum number of children in pre-primary i.e. nursery, LKG, UKG has been considered to be 75. This issue was raised on 16 November. It was reported in the news that no orders or instructions have been issued regarding mid-day meal. Besides, Akshaya Patra Sansthan had also stopped providing nutritional food citing lack of orders. As a humanitarian gesture, the school principal was distributing the nutritious food given to other children to the children.

Guidelines are expected to be issued regarding nutrition from mid day meal also.

An order in this regard has not yet been issued by the Mid Day Meal, but it is likely that in the coming days, instructions will be issued from the Commissionerate regarding children’s gardens also. At present, there is a provision to feed nutritious food only to children from class 1 to 8. Let it be known, an order regarding nutrition on behalf of Mid Day Meal was issued on July 12, 2024. In this, two orders of two years ago were cited. One order was for mid-day meals and schools from the then Additional Government Secretary Pawan Kumar Goyal. There was mention of providing hot nutritious food to children from classes 1 to 8. The second order was from Dr. Rashmi Sharma on behalf of Mid Day Meal, in which there were instructions to follow the order of Pawan Kumar Goyal.
