Udaipur: Retired IAS accused arrested for threatening hotel staff

Udaipur : Pratapnagar police station of Udaipur has arrested an accused in the case of entering the hotel of a retired IAS officer and threatening the staff. Police officer Bharat Yogi said that Mahipal Singh Ranaut, accused of demanding illegal extortion money from the manager of Hotel The Qualia Resort located in Debari on National Highway-27 and threatening to kill him, has been arrested. The accused was absconding for one and a half months. The car used in the incident has also been recovered from the accused. The police officer said that the hotel administrator, applicant Rajendra Singh, had lodged the report on 26 October 2024. It was told that the resort belongs to retired IAS ML Chauhan. At 1:30 in the night, Arvind Singh Patiya and other miscreants came in two cars. The accused had threatened the staff of not taking money from their people for their stay and food in the hotel and if they did so, they would have the hotel closed.

When the hotel management informed the police, the accused fled from the spot. Police have arrested Mahipal Singh Ranaut, resident of Kurabad Hall, Nakoda Nagar, who was absconding for one and a half months in the case. Police said that CCTV footage of the hotel and surrounding areas was searched to search for the accused. Accused Arvind Singh and his associates were named. After which accused Mahipal Singh Ranawat was arrested from Nakoda Nagar. Cases of assault and attempt to murder have already been registered against Mahipal in various police stations of the city.
