Bikaner : Two strange twins have been born in a private hospital in Nokha in Bikaner district of Rajasthan. These two children are different from normal babies, that is why people are calling them ‘aliens’. The babies are under the care of doctors since birth. People from the medical field as well as common people are talking about all kinds of things to see these unique children. Come, let us know what is the matter?
Actually, both these twins are suffering from a rare and serious skin disorder called ‘Harlequin Ichthyosis’. This disease is so rare that it is found only in one newborn out of millions and its occurrence in twins is even more extraordinary. Harlequin ichthyosis is a genetic disorder in which a baby’s skin becomes abnormally thick and tough. Due to this disorder, large plate-like scales form on the body of children and diamond-shaped patterns appear on the skin. Due to this condition, the skin of the newborn becomes extremely sensitive and the risk of infection is also high.
Doctor Ghanshyam Tanwar, who is taking care of these twins, said that this is a rare case. Special techniques are required in the care and treatment of these children. Care and monitoring is being done day and night to protect children from infection. However, advances in medical science and new treatment techniques have brought hope to this condition as well. Doctors believe that if proper care and consistent treatment are given, the chances of these children living a healthy life can be increased.
