Unveiling the results of China’s international cooperation

Beijing, December 10 (IANS). The China pavilion at the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP-16) on Monday held a side event with the theme ‘Green Technology, Green Future’ and International Cooperation in Desertification Prevention and Control. This side event was co-sponsored by the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

At the side event, a video was released of the results of the ‘China-Africa Green Technology Park’ built by the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography and the pan-African ‘Great Green Wall’ organization in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania.

The side event also introduced other desertification prevention and control achievements in China, Africa, Central Asia and other regions.

Sobirjon Umarov, expert of the Ministry of Ecology of Uzbekistan, in his speech said that environmental protection cooperation between Uzbekistan and China under the framework of the ‘Belt and Road’ has achieved remarkable results and China’s program of advanced sustainable management of natural resources has been implemented in Uzbekistan. Has been successfully implemented.

Africa’s ‘Great Green Wall’ Sidna Ould Ahmed Aly, Director-General of the Mauritanian National Agency, said in his speech that China’s innovative solutions have provided important assistance to Mauritania’s fight against desertification and the construction of Africa’s ‘Great Green Wall’.

At the side event’s roundtable session, six industry representatives from scientific research institutions and the business community spoke about their successful experiences in desertification prevention and control.
