Jalore : Farmers in Jalore told Vaibhav Gehlot – If you have become like us then you have come to meet in support. Even last time your government was there, farmers were sitting on strike. Your (Congress) leaders had said that whatever you say will happen and got the protest ended. But till date the problem of farmers has not been solved. Farmers said- If Gehlot government had done good to the farmers, we would have made them win again. Farmers said- The leaders of Gehlot government themselves had said that they would provide water, but did not provide a solution. Now there is nothing in hand. In fact, a massive protest of farmers has been going on at the Collectorate for the last 23 days demanding to decide the rights of Jalore on the water of Jawai Dam. Vaibhav Gehlot, the Congress candidate from Jalore-Sirohi Lok Sabha seat, had reached the protest site on Wednesday. He discussed their demands with the farmers for about 30 minutes.
Amit Shah had talked about reviving Jawai river.
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh’s district co-secretary Jagaram Mali Ailana told Vaibhav Gehlot – BJP or Congress leaders tell lies. Apart from this they cannot do anything. State Vice President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Khim Singh said that they should keep the demands of the farmers at a high level. After the construction of Jawai Dam, farmers of Jalore district have suffered huge losses.
He told- Currently the water level in the wells has fallen by 700 to 800 feet. Due to this, there has been a problem of drinking water including irrigation. Farmers have been protesting for a long time demanding water. Last time too, protests were held during the Gehlot government and talks were held with the government. The government gave many assurances, but did not provide any solution.
Khim Singh said – A year ago, during the assembly elections, the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah, who came to the public meeting in Sayla, had talked about reviving the Jawai river. But even after a year, no solution was found. In such a situation, we are forced to sit on strike here. The protest will continue until our demands are met. He said- There is no rule and policy for Jalore and natural flow of water in the policy of Jawai Dam. For this we are sitting at the protest site. Farmers demanded Vaibhav to raise his voice in the assembly as an opposition party.
Vaibhav said- BJP government wasted one year of farmers
Vaibhav Gehlot said- Farmers have been sitting on the roads for 23 days. The government should solve the problems of farmers. Congress party has always been with the farmers. Senior BJP leaders had come here and made promises, but till now they are not able to find any solution. The BJP government has wasted one year of the farmers. Vaibhav said- The previous government had announced Jawai Recharge Scheme during the protest by the farmers, if it had been taken forward, this problem would never have arisen. Vaibhav, along with the farmers, submitted a memorandum in the name of the Chief Minister to the District Collector and demanded to fulfill the demands of the farmers.
