Bhopal, November 20 (IANS). The film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ based on the Godhra incident of Gujarat is getting praise across the country. Meanwhile, the film has been made tax free in many states. The film’s lead actor Vikrant Massey has thanked the concerned governments for this.
Vikrant answered many questions while talking to news agency IANS. Expressing happiness over the film being made tax free, he said, “I would like to thank Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. This film is based on a true accident, which happened 22 years ago in Godhra. We know about the Gujarat riots. But till date no one has made a film on what happened to the Sabarmati Express, what happened to those 59 people.”
He said, “I would also like to thank Ekta Kapoor for making the effort to bring this film to the masses. She has tried to tell this story very fearlessly and it is a film based on true events.”
The actor said, “What was the role of the media especially during that time? There was no social media at that time, there were not many things, how the media spread mis-information at that time, this film tells more about that subject.”
On the film being made tax free in many states, the actor said, “This is the first film which has been made tax free in many states within a week of its release. We hope more and more people come and watch our film.” That people who don’t know about this subject will be able to know a lot through this film.”
Actor Vikrant Massey avoided the question related to the reaction of many political parties on the film.
