Villagers’ protest continues for the fourth day to change the name of Karoli GSS

Karauli News Desk: The protest by the villagers continued for the fourth day on Tuesday demanding the changing of the name of the 132 KV GSS under construction by the Electricity Transmission Corporation in Khijuri village near Karauli. The villagers have expressed anger over the officials ignoring their demands. Also warned to continue the protest until the demands are not met. Villagers Raman Singh Dagur and Dharamveer Dagur told that 132 KV GSS is being constructed in the revenue village Khijuri, approved by the state government, in the name of nearby village Dhindora. There is strong resentment among the villagers regarding this.

People from all sections of society are protesting by setting up tents at the GSS construction site since November 16, demanding that GSS be renamed as Khijuri instead of Dhindhora. The villagers alleged that due to the construction work being stopped, people from the corporation and administration are coming to the spot, but no assurance is being given regarding the demands. Villagers said that apart from renaming the 132 KV GSS as Khijuri, there is a demand to build a feeder for the village by laying a separate power line and to provide electricity to agriculture during the day. People from all communities including Hari Singh, Ramveer, Mahipal Dagur, Hetram, Chhagan Jatav, Maliram Jatav, Dinesh Jatav, Diwan Singh, Samay Singh, Suvalal Soranga, Ganpat Jangid, Ramswaroop Jangid, Vijay Singh, Balveer, Anoop Singh sat on the dharna.
