Voting continues for by-election on Tonk Devli-Uniara seat

Tonk : Voting is going on from 7 am in Deoli-Uniara assembly seat of Tonk. Voting will continue till 6 pm. There are 8 candidates in the fray for Deoli-Uniara seat. Here Congress has fielded Kastur Chand Meena and BJP has fielded Rajendra Gurjar.

Independent candidate Naresh Meena has made the fight here triangular. This seat had become vacant after Harish Chandra Meena, who was elected MLA from Deoli-Uniara seat in the 2023 assembly elections, became MP from Tonk-Sawaimadhopur. In 2023, Harish Chandra Meena defeated BJP’s Vijay Bainsla. In the main elections of 2023, 74.37 percent voting took place here.

More than 3 lakh voters will vote

There are a total of 3,02,743 voters in Deoli-Uniara assembly. Of which 1,55,958 are male voters, 1,46,784 are female voters and 1 is of third gender. 307 polling booths have been made in Deoli-Uniara assembly.

In which 10 model polling stations, 8 youth polling stations, 8 women polling stations, 8 eco-friendly polling stations and 1 specially abled polling station have been created. Live web casting of 169 polling stations has been done.

45 micro observers, 30 sector officers and 7 area magistrates have been appointed for the polling booth. There are 90 hypersensitive and sensitive polling stations. Of which 48 are in Deoli and 42 in Uniara subdivision. Where special security arrangements have also been made.

Heavy security arrangements have also been made at the polling stations for the Deoli Uniara Assembly by-elections. 90 personnel of GR 17A Company Gujarat, 90 personnel of GR 17B Company Gujarat, 84 personnel of GC 1 and 2 CRPF and 50 personnel of Home Guard have been deployed in Deoli subdivision area.

Similarly, in Uniara subdivision area, 83 soldiers of RAC 6th Battalion Dholpur, 83 soldiers of G240 CRPF, 90 soldiers of GR 17 Jamnagar Gujarat have been deployed. The arrest of 76 soldiers has been kept in reserve at Deoli police station. The arrest of 66 soldiers has been kept in reserve in Uniara police station area. Also, to ensure peaceful voting, Tonk SP Vikas Sangwan along with 4 additional SPs, 6 DSPs, 1 CI, 7 SI, 37 ASI, 124 head constables, 8 female head constables, 393 constables, 86 female constables, 150 RAC jawans. Including 1278 police personnel have been deployed.
