Udaipur : 3 days before the election of the executive of Udaipur Bar Association, politics remained heated for the second day on the issue of Rs 5.12 lakh collected from the advocates for the construction of the chamber. The sword continued to be drawn between the current executive chairman Bharat Joshi and general secretary Rajesh Sharma for the second consecutive day. General Secretary Sharma on Tuesday accused President Joshi of threatening not to give the chamber in future if the money is withdrawn. On the other hand, Joshi again termed the allegations as false. He said that after deducting the expenses incurred so far for the construction of the chamber, he is ready to return the money to the advocates.
Let us tell you that 64 chambers were to be constructed for advocates in the court complex located at Court Circle. In the same year, a Chamber Construction Committee was formed for this. The committee took Rs 1,000 each from 512 advocates. The application fee was Rs 100 each separately. Even before these could be constructed, on October 18, the news of construction of a new court building in Balicha was published. After this, some advocates wrote a letter to the committee to take back the money, but the money was not returned. In protest against this, General Secretary Sharma sat on a fast at Neem Chowk in the court premises on Monday. In the evening, senior advocates broke the fast by giving assurance of returning the money. At that time also the President and the General Secretary had accused each other.
11 out of 12 members resigned, hence the meeting could not be held: Chairman
A meeting of the construction committee was proposed on Tuesday regarding the issue of returning the money, but it did not take place. President Bharat Joshi said that after the General Secretary went on hunger strike on Monday, all of the 12 members of the Executive Committee, except one Sukhram Didel, resigned. However he did not accept them. For this reason the meeting to be held on Tuesday was postponed. After taking the money, the advocates’ applications will expire. After this he will not be given a chamber. Despite this, they are ready to return the money after deducting the expenses incurred so far for the construction.
