Sikar : Rajasthan’s oldest former MLA, freedom fighter and prominent farmer leader of Shekhawati, Ranmal Singh passed away at 9 am on Wednesday at the age of 102. He was living with his family in his native village Katrathal located in Sikar district. After receiving the news of his demise this morning, there was a wave of mourning in the entire state including Shekhawati.
Became MLA of Sikar in 1977
Ranmal Singh was the MLA of Sikar from 1977 to 1980. Along with this, he was Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat five times from 1955 to 1992. From 1965 to 1977, he also held the post of head of Piprali Panchayat Samiti. Not only this, Ranmal Singh, who is known as a big farmer leader, has also held many other posts including Agricultural Produce Market, Cooperative Society and Village Service Cooperative Society. Ranmal Singh was unwell for a long time. Recently, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who was on Sikar tour, also visited the house of farmer leader Ranmal Singh and met him.
Along with being a teacher, he was also a fighter.
Former MLA Ranmal Singh had also been a teacher before his political career (from 1 July 1941 to 29 February 1944). After working in the field of education, he resigned from the post of teacher and joined Jaipur Prajamandal. He was also a fighter in the Indian Army from 1947 to 31 December 1974. He was a big farmer leader and the oldest MLA of the state.
