The entire structure is built of red sandstone. 3. Jal Mahal is not built on an island like other water palaces in India. Four out of five floors of this building are submerged in the water of the lake. Only 1 floor is visible above the water.
It is believed that Jal Mahal was built during a drought. So this palace was built in normal conditions. When it was first built, the entire structure could be seen clearly.
