According to ancient stories, the tradition of observing Karva Chauth fast has been going on since the time of the gods. Actually, once a war started between gods and demons. When the gods started losing in the war, they approached Brahmadev seeking protection. Then, to avoid this crisis, Brahmadev asked the wives of all the gods to keep a fast for their husbands and pray with a true heart for their victory. This will give victory to the gods in the war. After this, the wives of the gods observed Karva Chauth fast and the gods won the war. At the same time the moon had also come out and only then the deity wives broke their fast. Therefore, there is a tradition of breaking the fast by seeing the moon.
Karva Chauth fast started from these states
According to another belief, the observance of Karva Chauth fast started mainly from the states of the north-western region of India. In fact, during the rule of the kings, when the Mughals attacked, many soldiers fought to protect their kingdom, at that time their wives observed Nirjala fast for the whole day, praying for the safety and well-being of their husbands. . Since then, there has been a tradition of observing Karva Chauth fast by married women to pray for the long life of their husbands. Especially this fast is observed in Punjab.
