When was it established?

After being settled by King Jai Singh, this city was made the capital of Amer. Amer is still located at some distance from Jaipur, Amer also has a very big fort, it is said that Akbar’s queen Jodha Bai was born in this fort.
It was designed by a Bengali architect
Research on history reveals that Raja Jai Singh got the design made by Bengali architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya to settle this city. Bhattacharya was on the post of Naib Daroga in Amer court. But his knowledge of architecture was very good and seeing his interest, Raja Jai Singh got Bhattacharya to plan the city of Jaipur. Impressed by his ability, Maharaja Jai Singh made him the city planner of his new capital Jaipur.

While settling this city, the king had made proper arrangements for collecting and draining out rainwater. This arrangement is not seen in most cities even today.
