Water level in Bisalpur dam is decreasing, a matter of concern, only 29.26% water left

Tonk : Tonk district received 346.46mm rainfall this time. But, there has been no inflow of water in the dam from Rajsamand, Chittorgarh and Bhilwara as well as Ajmer region. The lack of water inflow from Triveni and Dai rivers till now is a matter of great concern. Currently, only 310.19 RL meter of water is left in the dam, which is 29.26% of the dam’s filling capacity, in such a situation, now hopes are pinned on monsoon rains in the catchment area. The situation on the dam is such that the islands present in the dam are now visible.

Bisalpur dam’s water level decreased by 5 cm in three days

The water in Bisalpur dam has decreased by 5 cm in the last three days. On Sunday, there was 310.24 meters of water, which has decreased by 5 cm to 310.19 on Wednesday morning. The decreasing water level of the dam is a matter of great concern. Because the hopes of the capital Jaipur rest only on the Bisalpur dam. Currently, 1 thousand MLD water is being supplied to Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk for drinking water every day from the dam, in which 650 MLD is being given to Jaipur, 300 MLD to Ajmer and 50 MLD to Tonk. On top of this, the gravel and silt that has flowed into the catchment area of the dam in the last 20 years has also had an adverse effect on its storage capacity, in such a situation, it cannot be said when the hopes of Bisalpur dam will be dashed. The hopes of many cities including the dam and the capital Jaipur are only on good monsoon rains.

If there is heavy rain then Bisalpur dam will be filled

The water inflow in Bisalpur dam built on the Banas river in Tonk is from Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara and Ajmer, which comes to the dam with the help of Triveni Banas river and Dai and Khari rivers. But, this time the gauge of Banas at the Triveni Sangam of Bhilwara is recorded at 0. On the other hand, which is a matter of concern in the monsoon, the anicuts, ponds and dams in all these districts are currently empty, which will be filled after the rains. After that, the inflow of water will be till Tonk Bisalpur dam.

Bisalpur dam has overflowed 6 times so far

After the construction of Bisalpur dam, for the first time in 2004, the water of its full filling capacity was stopped. It was in 2004 that it was filled for the first time. After this, this dam overflowed in 2006, 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2022. Most of the water was drained from this dam in 2019 by opening 18 gates of this dam simultaneously, in which enough water was released into the Banas river to fill four more Bisalpur dams.
