Water released from Galwa Dam into canal for Tonk irrigation

Tonk News Desk: Water has been released from Galwa Dam, one of the major irrigation sources of the district, into the canal today for irrigation. Due to this, there is a wave of happiness among the farmers of Sawai Madhopur and Uniara area of ​​Tonk district. With this dam, Rabi crops can be irrigated in more than 125 thousand hectares of area in both the districts. It may be noted that at around 3 pm on Monday afternoon, a meeting of the Water Distribution Committee was held under the chairmanship of Collector Dr. Soumya Jha in the Agricultural Market Complex, Uniyara, regarding providing irrigation water for the Rabi year 2024-25 crop from the Galwa Dam of the district. During this, Additional Divisional Commissioner Ajmer Deepti Sharma was present. In the meeting, Water Users Sangam and farmers of the area gave their suggestions to the Collector regarding opening the canal of the dam. With the consent of the farmers, water was released from Galwa Dam at 3 pm on Monday afternoon to provide irrigation water.

The villagers looked very happy with this. The District Collector took information from Water Resources Department Circle, Ajmer Superintending Engineer Mahesh Rathi and Executive Engineer Tonk Devanand about the repair and cleaning of the canals of Galwa Dam and directed to complete it soon, so that water can easily reach the tail. Also, to maintain law and order during the operation of the canal, the local administration, police and water resources department were instructed to ensure action to remove and confiscate illegal engines installed by farmers on the canals. Subdivision Officer Shatrughan Gurjar, Joint Director of Agriculture Department Virendra Singh Solanki, Executive Engineer of Water Supply Department Kaluram Meena, Tehsildar Praveen Saini, Development Officer Vijay Singh and other officers were present in the meeting.
