Jhunjhunu : Under the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, the consumers of the villages and cities of Jhunjhunu region which are getting canal water from Kumbaram Lit Canal will have to wait a long time for regular water. Consumers have stopped getting canal water since few days. In urban areas, nominal water is being supplied every day. Whereas the supply has been stopped in rural areas. Whereas in Khetri area, supply is being given after every three days. Water is not coming into the storage tank built from Taranagar to Malsisar. Due to this consumers are not able to get water. Consumers of the district will have to wait a long time for regular water. You may have to wait till February for regular water.
Both the storage tanks of Malsisar became empty
Canal water in Jhunjhunu district comes from pump houses built in Taranagar. For the past few days, nominal water has been coming here from Taranagar, due to which the two storage tanks (lakes) built in Malsisar have become empty. Due to nominal availability of water, water supply is not being achieved in the district. Due to less water availability from Taranagar, it will take a lot of time to fill both the storage tanks of Malsisar. Unless both the tanks are filled completely and water is not supplied from the back as per the demand, it is difficult for the consumers connected to the scheme to get regular water.
Water theft in open canal!
According to experts, canal water comes from Taranagar in two big storage tanks built in Malsisar, Jhunjhunu. Six pump houses have been built in Taranagar. From these pump houses water reaches the Malsisar storage tank. There is an open canal from Taranagar till ten kilometers back. Water has started being stolen from this open canal. Due to this, sufficient water is not reaching the pump houses of Taranagar. Due to this, water is not reaching both the storage tanks built in Malsisar. All the water that was stored has been supplied. Water is reaching Malsisar storage tank from only one pump house from Taranagar. Water is being supplied from this pump house only for 10 to 12 hours. Unless equal amount of water from six pump houses from Taranagar is stored in the Malsisar storage tanks, there will be a water shortage in the district.
