Mumbai, November 15 (IANS). In view of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi spoke to IANS on Thursday. He has responded on other issues including Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Question: Muslim Personal Law Board has given its support to Maha Vikas Aghadi. What would you say about this?
Answer: Maulana Sajjad Nomani is an Indian citizen and has the right to vote. Maha Vikas Aghadi has not talked to him. The voter has his own right as to whom he wants to support. I think the media should not give too much importance to this issue. He also showed a list in which he told that there are 38 such seats in Maharashtra where the Muslim population is more than 20 percent. The benefit of vote share has gone to BJP. BJP only works to divide in the name of religion. For us the issues of Maharashtra are unemployment, women’s respect etc.
Question: Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar has given a statement on the wife of Maharashtra Deputy CM. What is your opinion on that?
Answer: I have seen his statement. This was not a sexist statement. Kanhaiya Kumar has said that people send their children abroad in the name of religious war. Let’s throw our children into the fire. Their children will study abroad. If he has said that the Deputy CM’s wife makes reels, then what has he said wrong? Women’s issues are very big. One should not indulge in these small things. There is nothing wrong with creating an Instagram reel. I also make reels.
Question: What is the situation in Maharashtra elections and what do you feel?
Answer: Full of confidence. The public has supported us in the Lok Sabha. BJP has spent crores on advertising. But, the public is not going to be confused. Women were given Rs 1,500 but inflation has increased so much. Maha Vikas Aghadi is contesting elections on public issues. In the last four days, I am confident that the kind of support we have received from the public in the Lok Sabha, we will get in the assembly elections also.
Question: Regarding the face of the Chief Minister, Congress claims that the CM will be made from the Congress party only, how?
Answer: Our only objective is to take Maharashtra back on the path of development. The way we were treated dishonestly, we were cheated, the culture of Maharashtra has been tarnished.
Question: The Union Home Minister has said that Uddhav Thackeray was sitting at home during Covid, is such a CM acceptable to us? What is your opinion on this?
Answer: Cowards are those who try to topple the government in the dark of night. Those people who come using power are not real leaders. Cowards are those people who do not have the courage to go among the public and seek public support.
Question: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in his election rally that if Congress comes, it will snatch reservation. Your reaction?
Answer: I want to tell him that during the Lok Sabha elections, your candidates used to say that it would cross 400. The agenda of RSS is to end reservation. They want to snatch the rights given by Baba Saheb Ambedkar, but the people of Maharashtra will oppose it. Baba Saheb has given reservation. No one has the courage to change it. RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi want to end reservation.
Question: Was Uddhav Thackeray checked during Maharashtra Assembly elections? How do you see this?
Answer: The Election Commission has so much love for our party that they even snatched our party symbol and name. This is just a political conspiracy and we will challenge it in the Supreme Court. Four days are left for the elections. Keep checking. Every time he checks, we will release the video.
Question: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has said that 10 percent people coming from Muslim community should be made candidates. What is your opinion on this?
Answer: I feel sorry for Devendra Fadnavis, he sits next to those against whom he holds press conferences. Ajit Pawar has also told how an attempt was made to form the government. Today it is being known who has spread lies to topple the government. Now he wants to get sympathy.
Question: Pramod Mahajan’s daughter is raising questions regarding his murder. What will you say on this?
Answer: His daughter is famous in politics. If she is saying this then it is important to take cognizance. There should be an investigation. Pramod Mahajan was a great leader. He would have been a big face in future, perhaps he could have even become the Prime Minister.
