Noida, November 18 (IANS). Even though late, cold has started in NCR and a drop in mercury has also been recorded. The minimum temperature had reached 14 degrees on Monday morning. Which is expected to go down further in the coming days and the maximum temperature is also expected to remain at 26 degrees. Along with this, people are also having to struggle with the double whammy of smog and pollution.
Since Monday morning, NCR appeared wrapped in a hazy blanket of smog. Visibility was greatly reduced due to smog. Intermittent strong winds have also made people feel the cold. Due to pollution, people coming out on the streets are seen wearing masks.
According to the Meteorological Department, a significant decline has been recorded in the maximum and minimum temperatures. The Meteorological Department has said that after the snowfall in the mountains, its direct effect is now being seen in NCR. Strong and cold winds had started blowing in NCR since Sunday morning but till then such a drop in mercury had not been recorded. Whereas on Monday morning, there has been a significant drop in mercury and the minimum temperature is expected to reach from 14 degrees to 12 degrees.
Along with this, the increasing level of pollution is also raising alarm bells for the people. An average AQI of 484 has been recorded in Delhi. Whereas AQI has reached 404 in Ghaziabad and close to 400 in Greater Noida. There are many areas of Delhi where AQI has reached close to 500. From this it can be guessed that now the situation is going from bad to worse.
