Kolkata, 22 November (IANS). The weather has taken a turn. It has started getting quite cold in most parts of the country. It is getting very cold in West Bengal also at this time. The weather in the state is dry, and there is no possibility of rain, due to which there is little hope of drop in temperature right now.
Dr. Somnath Dutta, head of the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata, told IANS, “If we talk about the current weather conditions and the coming few days, the weather will remain dry during the next one week, especially in South Bengal. There is no chance of rain and no major change in temperature is expected. The minimum temperature is currently around 20 degrees Celsius, and no major change is likely to occur. There may be a slight fluctuation of one degree Celsius in the minimum temperature in the next few days, but a change of more than two degrees Celsius is not likely.”
He further said, “Light to moderately dense fog is likely to occur over South Bengal and other parts of Bengal in the next 24 hours, especially over West Bardhaman, Bankura, West Midnapore, East Bardhaman districts. Light to moderate fog may occur in these districts in the next 72 hours in the morning. Apart from this, light fog may also be seen in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum, Murshidabad and some other areas, especially in the next 24 hours.
He said, “Light to moderate fog may also occur in Darjeeling, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda districts in the next 72 hours. Fog may affect these districts in the morning and in the next few hours. There is no possibility of any major change in the minimum temperature, and it will remain within one degree Celsius. There will be dry weather in South Bengal this season and possibility of light to moderate fog, but there will be no major change in temperature.
