West Indies collapsed to 146 from the clutches of Nahid Rana.

Kingston (Jamaica), December 3 (IANS). Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana said he focused on not giving any chance to the West Indies batsmen on the third day of the second Test as the hosts were bowled out for 146 on Tuesday.

Naheed, playing his sixth Test, returned with figures of 5-61 in 18 overs and gave Bangladesh the lead in the match. However, his first innings was reduced to 164 runs. Bangladesh scored 193/5 at stumps and took a lead of 211 runs thanks to Zakar Ali (29 not out) and Taijul Islam (9 not out).

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Shadman Islam played innings of 42 and 46 runs respectively. Bangladesh team, which was trailing 1-0 in the series, captured the match by performing brilliantly with both bat and ball.

Naheed played a key role in the complete collapse of West Indies’ batting as the hosts lost their last 9 wickets for just 61 runs, ending their innings at 146 runs.

“Alhamdulillah (for my first five-wicket haul). I didn’t try too many things, just worked on seeing how I could bowl without giving space to the batsmen,” Rana said after the match.

“I think on this wicket, if you bowl line to line without trying too hard, without giving space to the batsmen, the batsmen try to do too much.”

Rana expressed confidence that by setting a target of 250 runs, they would be in a strong position to level the series.

“I think we are in a good position and if we score more than 250, it will be difficult for the batsmen to bat on the fourth day because the wicket will have uneven bounce while the spinners will get turn,” the fast bowler said.
