Jaipur : Former State President of BJP Rajasthan Satish Poonia has been made in-charge of Haryana by the party. Earlier, he was given the responsibility of election in-charge of Haryana in the Lok Sabha elections. However, BJP could not perform well in Haryana. It could win only 5 out of 10 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Poonia was the state president of Rajasthan BJP for about 4 years and 8 months before the assembly elections, he was removed and CP Joshi was given this responsibility in his place. After that, there was also a discussion that if BJP forms the government, he could be given a big responsibility. But Poonia lost the election for the MLA seat from Amer Assembly.
After Satish Poonia was made the in-charge of Haryana, many kinds of political whispers are going on. The question is whether he has been kept away from Rajasthan? Or has his electoral political career come to an end? Poonia’s political journey started from his student life itself. He held many posts in Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Later, he worked on state level posts in Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Poonia worked as the state general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan from 2004 to 2006 and as the state front in-charge from 2006 to 2007. After that, he was the state general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party four times from 2004 to 2014.
30 years of work in the organization and then one ticket
Satish Poonia is called the ‘man’ of the organization. He worked for 30 years in the BJP and its associated organizations. In the 2018 assembly elections, he entered electoral politics for the first time and won the election from Amer Assembly. When he was made the state president a year after the victory, he was not given any attention by the mainstream leaders. Ashok Gehlot did not even take his name. However, during this time Poonia agitated a lot against the Gehlot government. Satish Poonia is called the ‘man’ of the organization. He worked for 30 years in the BJP and its associated organizations.
Moving from electoral politics to the organization
There could be many reasons behind making Poonia in-charge of Haryana and what political meanings can it have? This is very important. Poonia’s appointment seems to indicate that perhaps his career in electoral politics has come to an end? And the party wants to take advantage of his experience of working in the organization for 30 years. Because BJP keeps experimenting with its leaders so that it can know which leader is strong in which stream. In such a situation, Poonia has once again got the responsibility of strengthening the organization. This factor also goes in Poonia’s favor that he played a very important role in the 2010 and 2015 Haryana assembly elections.
An attempt to balance caste equations!
If we look at the Lok Sabha elections of Rajasthan and Haryana together, it is clear that BJP was almost wiped out in Jat dominated areas. In Rajasthan, only one Jat candidate of BJP has been able to win the election. Jat voters are the highest in Haryana with around 23 percent. In such a situation, BJP can try to balance the caste equations by bringing Satish Poonia here in an attempt to end the resentment of the Jats.
