Then perform puja-aarti by offering roli akshat, kheel-batashe, flowers, sweets etc. to the old idols. After this, keep the new idol there and remove the old idol from the place of worship.

Immerse in the river: If the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh is made of clay, except any metal idol, then wrap it in a red cloth and immerse it in the river. If you are not able to do this, then you can do this at home by filling water in a pure vessel and melting the idols in it. By doing this you will not become a partner in sin. You will also start getting benefits in life. However, keep in mind that do not keep the idols here and there or throw them in dirty water or dirty places.
Keep metal idols in the safe: If you have brought silver, gold or brass idols of Lakshmi-Ganesh for this Diwali worship, then you can keep them in the safe of your house. However, before keeping it in the safe, bathe the idol with Ganga water. After this, install them again in the temple or safe. Keep in mind that during this period, perform Aarti along with worship as per the rituals. By doing this you will get the benefit of worship. You will get the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and the spoiled work will start getting done.
