Sawai Madhopur : In Sawai Madhopur, the Irrigation Department performed a mere formality in the name of cleaning the canal of Dheel Dam. Due to which the canal is now overflowing and ruining the crops standing in the farmers’ fields. A similar case came to light in Bhadauti town of Malarna Dungar subdivision on Sunday. Here, due to mere formality in the name of cleaning the canal by the Irrigation Department, the water of the canal overflowed and filled the fields of the farmers. Due to which the wheat crop standing in the farmers’ fields became filled with water.
After getting information about the incident, farmers reached the spot and got the minor canal cleaned at their level. Aggrieved farmers Deshraj Meena, Omprakash Meena, Dharamraj Meena, Pradhan Meena etc. told that the employees of the irrigation department of the main canal and minor canals of Dheel Dam, in connivance with the contractor, got the canal started merely as a formality in the name of cleanliness. Due to which the main canal overflowed and the farmers’ fields were flooded.
As soon as the farmers got the information that the canal had overflowed and the fields were filled with canal water, the affected farmers reached the spot and cleaned the canal at their own level, otherwise the crops of dozens of farmers were on the verge of being ruined due to waterlogging. . Farmers allege that despite lakhs of rupees being allocated for cleaning the canal, only formality is done. Due to which the canal sometimes overflows and sometimes breaks, causing farmers’ crops to get ruined.
