Kota News Desk: Despite the large number of crocodiles in the water bodies around Kota city, the recent incidents of three crocodiles being found dead have raised concerns about the conservation of wildlife. On Saturday and Sunday, three crocodiles were found dead, one in a drain in Raipur area and two in Chandraloi river near Chandrasel Math.
It took a lot of effort to rescue the 10 feet crocodile.
According to Forest Department officials, the post-mortem process has been started to find out the cause of death of these three crocodiles. Sanjay Nagar, acting ACF of Kota Territorial Forest Department, said that a team was sent to the spot and these dead crocodiles were taken out of the river and sent to the nursery located on Deoli Arab Road, where their post-mortem will be done by the Medical Board. Team member Virendra Singh Hada said that the two crocodiles found on Sunday were 10 to 11 feet long and it took hard work to take them out.
This unique crocodile was 60 years old
The post-mortem of the crocodile found in Raipur drain on Saturday was done by Ladpura Range officials and Deputy Director of Multipurpose Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Pandey. This crocodile was about 60 years old, whose length was 10.5 feet and weight was 150 kg. Dr. Pandey said that there were many wounds on the crocodile’s body and pieces of stone and glass were found in its stomach, which made it appear that perhaps it had eaten these. His death is likely to be due to multi organ failure. The Forest Department is now conducting a thorough investigation into these deaths so that such incidents can be prevented in future and appropriate steps can be taken for the conservation of crocodiles.
