New Delhi, November 18 (IANS). Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that if you look at the history, whenever we have been divided, we have lost and sometimes we have had to lag behind.
He said that whenever our unity has weakened, the invaders have made every effort to destroy our civilization and our culture. In my view, as important as it is to keep the borders safe, it is equally important to keep the culture safe.
The Defense Minister was speaking on the occasion of Koti Deepotsavam organized in Hyderabad on Monday. He said, “I think the importance of such events is not just about gathering of people or lighting lamps. Such events also give us many messages. The first important message that I think is that of unity. If a person tries alone, his efforts will naturally have less impact, but if many people try together, it becomes easier to achieve the goals.
The Defense Minister said, “You look at the history. Whenever we have been divided, we have been defeated and we have had to retreat. Whenever our unity has weakened, the invaders have defeated us. Every effort has been made to destroy civilization and our culture. It is also written in our scriptures – ‘Eikyam Balam Samajyasya Tadbhave Sa Durbal:’ That is, unity is the strength of the society, hence the society becomes weak. We have to take a pledge that we have to shine together like these lamps and spread light in the entire country.”
He further said that someone will divide you into different religions, someone will divide you into different sects, but you do not have to be divided. You should neither divide nor divide, the entire country should remain together. Have to remain united. If we avoid division then we will move towards development.
He said that the second message of such events is to instill enthusiasm within us. Festivals like Koti Deepotsavam also create enthusiasm within us. For the progress of any country or society, it is very important to have unity as well as enthusiasm. If we want to become a developed nation, if we want to regain the glory of world leader, then we will have to act with discretion. Such events along with unity and enthusiasm also make the citizens wise.
The Defense Minister said that India is not just a political entity but also has a cultural identity of thousands of years. Because of which we have been known and respected all over the world. No country is made up of just a piece of land and its people, rather a nation is made up of its culture.
