Jaipur : By-election is going to be held on the vacant Rajya Sabha seat in Rajasthan and the nomination process for this has started. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has chosen Ravneet Singh Bittu as its candidate for this by-election. Ravneet Singh Bittu filed his nomination papers on the last day of nomination on August 21. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, both Deputy CMs Premchand Bairwa and Diya Kumari were present on this occasion. Voting for the by-election will be held on September 3, and it is believed that Ravneet Singh Bittu is sure to win. This Rajya Sabha seat has fallen vacant after the resignation of Congress leader KC Venugopal. Venugopal has now become an MP from Alappuzha seat of Kerala in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This time the Congress has not fielded any candidate for this seat, making Bittu’s path to victory easier.
Ravneet Singh Bittu’s entry into Rajya Sabha is almost certain
Ravneet Singh Bittu, who hails from Punjab, is almost certain to go to Rajya Sabha. Currently, out of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan, 5 are with Congress and 4 with BJP, while by-election is being held on one seat. Out of 5 Rajya Sabha MPs of Congress, 4 are from other states while 4 Rajya Sabha MPs of BJP are from Rajasthan. At present, Sonia Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Pramod Tiwari, Neeraj Dangi and Mukul Wasnik are Rajya Sabha members from Rajasthan on behalf of Congress. BJP’s Rajendra Gehlot, Madan Rathore, Chunnilal Garasiya and Ghanshyam Tiwari are currently representing Rajasthan in Rajya Sabha. Now Ravneet Singh Bittu is also certain to join it. A total of 10 seats are reserved in Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan quota, currently 5 seats are with Congress and 5 seats are with BJP. Out of 5 seats with Congress, 4 MPs are from other states while 1 MP is from Rajasthan itself. On the other hand, out of 5 Rajya Sabha MPs of BJP, 4 are currently from Rajasthan and now one more MP will be from BJP, who will be from another state. In this way, in total half of the Rajya Sabha MPs are from Rajasthan and half from other states.
