Jodhpur : Self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu, who is serving life sentence for raping a minor, has been released on 7-day parole. Rajasthan High Court had granted 7-day parole to Asaram Bapu yesterday for medical reasons. After this, Asaram Bapu was released from jail yesterday after about 11 years. According to the information, Asaram Bapu will undergo Ayurvedic treatment at Madhavbagh Hospital in Khopoli area on the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. In this background, Asaram Bapu, who was released from jail yesterday, went to Mumbai by plane, during which a police officer also went with Bapu. Asaram Bapu has been in jail since 2013 on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl. In 2018, the charges against him were proved and he was sentenced to life imprisonment and was kept in Jodhpur jail. But yesterday, after being granted parole by the Rajasthan High Court, he came from Jodhpur to Mumbai by flight. While granting parole, the court has made strict rules, during the treatment Asaram Bapu can neither contact nor meet anyone, only the doctor and his assistant can stay with him, the court said. Asaram Bapu is being treated in a private room, this room is guarded by the police 24 hours a day. Parole has been granted on a bond of Rs 50,000, Asaram Bapu will have to bear all the expenses of this treatment himself, the court said.
