Jhunjhunu : In a major action, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jhunjhunu district arrested Khetri Sub Divisional Officer (RAS) Banshidhar Yogi red-handed while accepting Rs 2 lakh cash and an expensive dinner-set as bribe. This action was taken by the Special Unit-II, Jaipur unit of ACB on the basis of complaint of bribe being demanded in return for compliance of the decree passed by the court. Today more investigation is being done and bank lockers are on target.
First asked for 20 bighas of land then Rs 5 lakh
ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrada said that the complainant had informed the Bureau that the court had ruled in his favor in the dispute related to his land. To implement the decision, Sub-Divisional Officer Banshidhar Yogi first demanded 20 bighas of land. When the complainant expressed his inability to give it, the officer demanded Rs 5 lakh as bribe. After repeated requests of the complainant, this amount was reduced to Rs 3 lakh.
Also asked for 2 T-sets and got arrested
After verifying the veracity of the complaint, ACB today conducted a trap operation in Jhunjhunu and caught the officer accepting Rs 2 lakh and an expensive dinner-set as bribe. During investigation it also came to light that the accused had already taken Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. Apart from this, two T-sets were also asked for, which were given. But now the officer has been trapped.
