‘Why’ High Court stayed the action of cancelling UTB GNM recruitment, asked this big question to Bhajanlal government

Jaipur : The High Court has put an interim stay on the action of cancelling UTB GNM recruitment in Rajasthan. The bench of Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur of Rajasthan High Court has given this decision. Along with this, the bench has also issued notice to the state government and the department and sought a reply in the matter. The next hearing in the High Court in the UTB GNM recruitment case will be on September 23.

The selected candidates worked during the Corona period

Petitioner Gulab Singh Gehlot and others had filed a petition related to UTB GNM recruitment in the Rajasthan High Court. The petition stated that according to an order issued by the Principal Secretary and Medical Department on 20 September 2020 during the Corona period, GNMs were also recruited on a temporary basis in Jodhpur district following the same procedure in all districts. The committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Collector selected the top 100 candidates from 1800 applications from the merit list prepared on the basis of educational qualification, technical qualification, experience and interview and after taking approval from the department for 100 posts, appointment orders were issued.

The selected candidates worked in AIIMS, Mathura Das Mathur Hospital and other hospitals risking their lives during Covid-19 and emergency. After a month, the matter got pending in the High Court on the petition of a candidate and the investigation was handed over to the Divisional Commissioner Jodhpur. The facts related to reservation and interview were mentioned in the report of the Divisional Commissioner. However, after taking charge, the department had issued instructions to follow the reservation. Due to the Covid epidemic, the government adopted the same process in all the districts.

The next hearing will be on September 23

On the report of the Divisional Commissioner, the Advocate General advised the government to terminate the services of the personnel by issuing a notice along with a copy of the investigation report of the Divisional Commissioner. After this, the Joint Director Medical Department Jodhpur issued a notice some time ago to cancel the recruitment. After this, the investigation report of the Divisional Commissioner Jodhpur and the show cause notice issued by the Joint Director Medical Jodhpur were challenged in the High Court. Currently, the High Court has issued a notice while putting an interim stay on the action of cancelling the UTB GNM recruitment. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on 23 September.
