Jaipur : 983 toll plazas are currently operational on the national highways of the country. Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are at the top in the matter of national highways and Rajasthan is at number three, but Rajasthan is at the top in toll collection. Rajasthan has the highest number of 142 toll plazas where drivers have to pay a huge toll. Uttar Pradesh is at the second position in toll collection with 102 toll plazas. Out of the total 983 toll plazas in the country, 457 toll plazas have been started in the last five years. Rajasthan is also at the top in this matter, where the maximum 58 toll plazas have been started in the last five years. In Rajasthan, this toll is established on more than ten thousand kilometers of national highways, whereas Maharashtra has a network of more than 18 thousand kilometers of national highways and there are only 81 toll plazas. The biggest question is that when Rajasthan is at number three in the country in terms of roads, then how did it come at number one in the matter of toll plazas?
In five years, toll worth more than 22 thousand crores was collected in Rajasthan
The amount of toll collection in Rajasthan was Rs 3 thousand 649 crore in 2009. Whereas in 2023-24 it will increase to 5 thousand 954 crore
In five years, about 22 thousand 97 crores have been spent on vehicles at toll plazas in the state. Both these amounts are the highest in the country.

Ajmer-Delhi National Highway is giving the highest revenue to NHAI. In five years, Rs 884.45 crore has been collected as toll from vehicles at Shahjahanpur toll plaza alone. This is the second highest amount collected at any toll plaza in the country. Rs 1161.19 crore has been collected at Thikriya toll plaza of Ajmer-Delhi National Highway near Bagru. This plaza is at seventh place in terms of revenue.
