Udaipur : Some members of the Mewar royal family have expressed strong objection to the President of India visiting the royal palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He has also written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu in this regard. Former member of the Mewar royal family and current BJP MP Mahima Kumari Mewar and her husband MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar have objected to the President’s visit. He says that the dispute regarding the property of Udaipur Palace of Mewar royal family is in the court, in such a situation President Murmu should not have gone there.
On October 3, President Draupadi Murmu attended the 32nd convocation at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur. During this time, he made a personal visit to Udaipur Palace, one of the tourist places of the city. During this, Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Beerwa were also present along with the President. He was welcomed by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Mewar royal family and his family.
But BJP’s Rajsamand MP Mahima Kumari Mewar and her husband Nathdwara BJP MLA Vishwaraj Singh Mewar have opposed it. He said that President Draupadi Murmu did not meet the head of his family i.e. Vishvaraj’s father Mahendra Singh Mewar. Vishvaraj’s father Mahendra Singh Mewar is the elder brother of Arvind Mewar. Arvind Mewar is the father of Lakshyaraj, who welcomed President Murmu. This royal family is a descendant of Maharana Pratap.
Mahendra Singh alleged that this palace of the city is the property of his family and there is a stay on it from the court. Also, a petition is pending in the Supreme Court regarding some part of this property. Not only this, this property has been declared as Hindu Undivided Family by the Income Tax Department and the District Court and a petition is also pending in the High Court. He said that we have given this information by writing a letter to the President. By visiting such property the President has insulted the dignity of his office. It is wrong to do this without informing the head of the family.
