Dausa : In the recently held Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, there are five assembly seats where MLAs have become MPs. Dausa assembly seat is one of them. MLA Murari Lal Meena of this seat has won the Lok Sabha elections. After which now by-election will be held here. Although the by-election has not been announced yet, but the leaders seeking tickets in the assembly and later Lok Sabha elections have become active. The candidates who were assured of tickets in the assembly elections are now considered to be the strongest contenders. There was a long list of claimants for the Dausa seat in the assembly elections and even after Murari Lal Meena got the ticket, it did not stop. But this rebellion came to a boil when Congress gave ticket to Murari Lal Meena in the Lok Sabha elections too. After which Naresh Meena rebelled. Naresh had also filed nomination but later withdrew it.
Naresh Meena is the strongest contender!
During the Lok Sabha election campaign, Naresh Meena, while sharing the stage with Murari Lal, had said, “You got the ticket, you will become an MP. Your daughter will become an MLA from Dausa, when will our turn come? It was your duty to ask for a ticket for us. You don’t have children, we are your children. You should have told Sachin Pilot to give the ticket to Naresh.” After such an open rebellion, the Congress is now more cautious about who to give the ticket to. In such a situation, Naresh Meena can be the strongest contender for the ticket in the assembly by-election.
If the caste equation changes then Khatana is also a contender
There is another contender for the Dausa assembly seat who can demand a ticket. He is Gajraj Khatana. Khatana is considered close to Sachin Pilot. He has been associated with the Pilot family since the time of Sachin Pilot’s father Rajesh Pilot. If the Congress gives a ticket from the Gurjar community instead of Meena in the assembly elections, then Khatana’s name can be at the forefront. Gajraj Khatana contested the 2008 assembly election from Bandikui assembly constituency but lost. After that he got a ticket from here in 2018 and he won. But he had to face defeat in the last election. However, his last defeat can become a hurdle in getting a ticket.
