Jaipur : State Election Commission has started preparations for the elections in view of the expired tenure of 49 urban bodies. The Commission has instructed all the District Election Officers (DEOs) to appoint employees to prepare the voter list. Let us inform you that the BJP government of Rajasthan had announced in the budget to conduct simultaneous elections of local bodies in the state. In fact, the State Election Commission has instructed the election officers of the districts to prepare and send the list of employees (enumerators) within 7 days.

Demand list for 10 percent additional employees

In this order, the Commission has given instructions to prepare a list of 10 percent additional employees, so that they can be kept in reserve and can be used for this work if needed. This will be prepared through new software from the Election Commission. The Commission said that the voter list will be prepared as per the present situation.

However, the government is yet to do the work of demarcation of new wards, reorganization of old wards and reorganization of local bodies. Actually, there are more than 230 urban bodies in Rajasthan. The government had asked in the budget to hold elections in all these 230 together. At the same time, the tenure of all the bodies is completing at different times.

UDH minister had said- elections will be held simultaneously in 2025

Two months ago, Rajasthan’s UDH minister Jhabar Singh Kharra had said that elections will not be held in the year 2024 where the tenure of the local bodies is ending. In the year 2025, elections for civic bodies will be held simultaneously in the entire state. After Kharra’s statement, a possibility was also raised that where the tenure ends, administrators will be appointed till the next elections.
