Tonk News Desk: Independent candidate Naresh Meena, who slapped SDM Amit Chaudhary in Samravata village of Devli-Uniara assembly constituency in Tonk district, is currently in jail. The court has sent Naresh Meena to judicial custody till November 25. But, the big question is that how much punishment can be given to Naresh Meena who slapped a government officer while on duty? Actually, this case comes under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In which there is a provision for punishment for obstructing a government officer in the discharge of his duties. Naresh Meena also slapped Malpura SDM Amit Chaudhary on the day of voting. However, Naresh Meena says that the SDM had got the voting done in a fraudulent manner, hence he got angry.
There could be seven years in jail
If Naresh Meena is found guilty of obstructing government work, he could face a jail term of up to 7 years. Also, fine can also be imposed. Only the public servant has the right to file a complaint under this section. A complaint has also been given by the victim SDM regarding the slapping incident.
These cases are registered against Naresh Meena
A case has been registered against independent candidate Naresh Meena for assaulting an SDM during the Deoli-Uniara assembly by-election. Apart from this, a case has been registered under several sections including obstruction of public works. There is also a case of escaping from custody by dodging the police.
