Beijing, November 20 (IANS). Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Brazil’s capital Brasilia on November 19 after attending the G-20 summit in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. He has started his state visit to Brazil. His state visit is taking place after five years.
Upon landing at the Brasília Air Force Airport, Xi was warmly welcomed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and several senior officials, including Rui Costa, Minister of State of the Republic of Brazil and Head of the Civilian House of the Presidency.
On this occasion, dozens of Brazilian artists dressed in traditional costumes presented local music. As President Xi’s motorcade moved from the airport to the hotel, he was greeted by local overseas Chinese citizens, employees of Chinese-owned enterprises and Chinese students studying in Brazil, who waved flags of both countries.
During his stay, President Lula will host a grand reception in honor of Xi Jinping. After the ceremony, the two leaders are scheduled to hold talks to exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interest.
According to Brazilian media reports, the two sides are expected to sign a number of cooperation agreements covering sectors such as automobiles, agriculture, trade and investment, infrastructure, industry, finance and science and technology.
