Yogi government is opening veterinary colleges in Gorakhpur, Bhadohi

Lucknow, 9 December (IANS). Purvanchal of Uttar Pradesh was once very prosperous in terms of animal wealth. These animals used to graze happily in the ponds and doabs of rivers and when thirsty, they used to drink water by spilling water. This trend was broken after a few decades. Uttar Pradesh Livestock Development Council had conducted a study in the early days of its establishment. According to him, most of the animals in Uttar Pradesh, especially Purvanchal, are victims of malnutrition. Due to this, not only the health and productivity of the concerned animal is being affected, but the milk production is also being affected.

It was also revealed in the study that malnutrition is also a major reason for increasing infertility in animals. But, this will not happen now. The campaign launched by the Yogi government to free grazing land from encroachment will provide adequate land for grazing animals. Besides, through breed improvement, the veterinary college to be built in Tal Nadaur and Bhadohi of Gorakhpur will also improve the health of the animals here and milk production will also increase. This will also benefit the cattle herders of Uttar Pradesh, adjoining Bihar and Nepal, but the cattle herders of Purvanchal will benefit the most.

At present, Uttar Pradesh is number one in the country in terms of milk production. The contribution of UP in the total production is about 16%. With this step of Yogi government, milk production in the state will definitely increase in the coming time. With this, UP’s dominance in milk production will continue in a more complete manner in the future also. Both the colleges of Gorakhpur and Bhadohi will be affiliated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Sciences University and Cow Research Institute, Mathura.

For the establishment of a college in Gorakhpur, 80 acres of land has been identified in Tal Nador located on the Gorakhpur-Varanasi Highway. The construction of the first phase will cost Rs 228 crore. Yogi government has also allocated Rs 100 crore for this in the budget of February 2024. Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Tal Nadaur and gave instructions to develop the veterinary college as a model.

This college will have hi-tech facilities, which include basic facilities like hospital block, academic block, staff quarter, hostel. Yogi government intends to upgrade it as a university in future.

The Veterinary College in Bhadohi which was announced by the Chief Minister during his first term is also being implemented rapidly. In this regard, 15 acres of land was also identified in Jorai and Vedpur villages. A budget of Rs 50 crore has been approved for its construction in the state budget in February 2024. Many experts from Mathura’s Veterinary University have already come and given the green signal for the construction of the college and complex.

Academic building, laboratory and hostel of the college will be constructed in 10 acres of the veterinary college to be built in Bhadohi. Block Label Court Complex is to be constructed on five acres. NOC for its construction has also been received from the Higher Education Department. The college will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and veterinary related studies. The construction of the college will benefit the youth of ten districts of Purvanchal.
