Youth from Kota district arrested from Jhansi on charges of cow smuggling

Kota : Jhansi Police has arrested a youth from Kota on charges of animal smuggling. There was a reward of Rs 25 thousand on the youth, who was absconding for 2 years. When the police went to arrest him, he fired at the police. In retaliatory firing, the youth was shot in the leg. Jhansi SP Gyanendra Kumar Singh said that on Thursday, SWAT team in-charge Jitendra Takkhar and Raksa SO Parmendra Singh were checking with the team at Pathari Tiraha of Athoundana. Just then a young man was seen coming on a bike. Seeing the police checking, he turned and started running away. Then he collided with a stone and fell. When the police laid siege, he opened fire on the police team.

The police also retaliated. In this, the young man was injured by a bullet in his right leg. The accused has been identified as Ramesh Banjara (28), son of Shyamlal Banjara, resident of Kalam Ka Kuan in Ranpur police station area of ​​Kota district of Rajasthan. A country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two spent cartridges, mobile, Aadhaar card and Rs 600 were recovered from him. On June 15, 2022, the police team was checking near Sijwaha. Then 47 cows were found crammed into a container. 40 cattle had died due to hunger and thirst. Driver Salman, resident of Prayagraj, and assistant Monu fled from the spot. Whereas Wajid and Kaleem, residents of Saharanpur, who were hiding among the animals, were arrested.

Both of them had told during police interrogation that they were loading 47 cows from Jaipur and taking them to Shivni in Madhya Pradesh. Raksha police registered a case and started investigation. Then the name of Ramesh Banjara came to light. The police was searching for him since then. A reward of Rs 25 thousand was placed on Ramesh. He had come to the court in Jhansi to represent himself in a case.
