To ensure that Kota : Kota city and its residents remain safe and every criminal activity can be monitored, CCTV cameras were to be installed at various places and they were to be connected to the Abhay Command Centre, but this work is going on at a snail’s pace. 1100 CCTV cameras across the city were to be connected to Abhay Command Centre, but in the last 6 years only 507 CCTV cameras could be connected. Some of them are also damaged or closed. Abhay Command Center was started on 18 August 2017 at Hemu Kalani Community Building in front of the Police Control Room. In September 2017, 200 CCTV cameras were installed in different phases and by 2019, 400 CCTV cameras were activated. Since then, no work has been done on this project, whereas in this regard, the police and DOIT have instructed the camera installation company to install the cameras in the city as soon as possible.
Project stuck due to fiber cable not being laid
When the magazine investigated this, it came to light that in the first phase, about 380 foundations and poles were installed in Kota city. Out of these, only 127 could be used. Apart from this, 180 foundations and poles are yet to be installed. The entire project is stuck due to non-laying of fiber cable for the last 4 years. If fiber cable is laid, the poles and foundation are already ready, in such a situation 400 cameras can be installed. It has been decided where CCTV cameras will be installed in the city.
