Mumbai, November 14 (IANS). 15 films will compete for the coveted title of Golden Peacock at the upcoming edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The list includes 12 international and three Indian films. Each has been chosen for their unique perspective, voice and artistry.
Representing the best of global and Indian cinema, each of these films offers a unique perspective on human values, culture and the art of storytelling.
These films include ‘Fear and Trembling’ from Iran, ‘Gulizar’ from Turkey, ‘Holy Cow’ from France, ‘I Am Nevenka’ from Spain, ‘Panopticon’ from America, ‘Pierce’ from Singapore, ‘Red Path’ from Tunisia. , ‘Shepherds’ joint production from Canada and France, ‘The New Year That Never Came’ from Romania, ‘Toxic’ from Lithuania, ‘Waves’ from Czech Republic, ‘Who Do I Belong To’, joint production from Tunisia and Canada, India ‘The Goat Life’ from India, ‘Article 370’ from India and ‘Raosaheb’ from India.
This year’s Golden Peacock jury is led by Indian filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and also includes Singaporean director Anthony Chen, British-American producer Elizabeth Carlson, Spanish producer Fran Borgia and renowned Australian film editor Jill Bilcock.
The jury will determine the winners in various categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female) and Special Jury Award. The winning film will receive a prize of Rs 40 lakh along with one of the top honors of the festival.
This year’s list of films covers a variety of subjects and genres. These feature films that will transport audiences to unexplored worlds, challenge established notions and bring new voices to the fore.
The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India will be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.
